Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Draughtsperson with the ability to lead a small team. You will need to be a competent user of computer aided design packages and have the ability to communicate technical subjects. Sheet metal and fabrication experience would certainly be an advantage. You will be responsible for planning tasks for the Electrical Team and prioritising work to ensure deadlines are met.
JOB ACTIVITIES
To plan the team tasks and set priorities in support of the project objectives
To contribute to project team briefings and share information as required
To report progress to line management on a regular basis
To mentor and assist with the development of the individuals within the team
To regularly review task progress of the team, identify any risks to successful project delivery (time, cost, etc) and provide early notification to line and project management
To advise team members on company and departmental best practices, maximise efficiency, and maintain a consistently high standard of team performance and output
To review the team output and manage electrical interfaces
To liaise with the mechanical draughting teams, coordinate interdisciplinary activities, and intervene as necessary so as to eliminate rework and inefficient working
To identify opportunities for cost reduction of the company’s products and support value engineering activities as required
To support company initiatives and attend training events as necessary
To carry out the duties of an electrical draughtsperson
To work with and support the electrical engineers in the interpretation of electrical specifications, standards and requirements of electrical engineering legislation
To check and review drawings to ensure all drafting is carried out in accordance with relevant national, international and Company standards.
Any other duties as may be required from time to time.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Qualified to HND or HNC standard or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
Desirable
Other additional electrical qualifications
Wiring Regulations 17th Edition BS7671:2008
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
Competent user of Autocad Electrical or equivalent drawing package.
Ability to communicate technical information
Knowledge of the company products and services
Understanding of electrical engineering principles
Familiar with conventions for electrical schematics, line diagrams, panel layouts, bills of material, loop and hook-up diagrams, cable schedules and installation drawings
A minimum of 4 years experience in electrical drawing
Familiar with the IEC electrical drawing and symbol standards
Practitioner in document control processes
Desirable
Knowledge and experience of site working
Experience of working to industrial electrical design standards
